The Queen has declared the London Olympics officially open, before
seven young athletes were given the honour of lighting the ceremonial
flame. The opening ceremony, directed by Academy Award winner Danny
Boyle, featured drama, humour and a long list of quintessentially
British tunes.
Sir
Steve Redgrave ran with the Flame into the stadium, the Olympic Oath
was read, and seven young athletes set a magnificent cauldron
aflame…then the FIREWORKS! And last but not least…a performance from the
living legend Sir Paul McCartney!
